JUNE 16

I'm still in the airport, waiting patiently to board the plane to Canada. I'm so excited for this trip, and to see all the Japanese students that came in March. I can admit that I'm a little nervous, but I am going to have a lot of fun with my classmates. Thanks to all the people who made this possible for me! I'll blog later to let everyone know how things are going

JUNE 18

Waking up on this beautiful morning of June the 18th, I am so excited to see what today brings. I woke up at like 4:30 this morning, I guess my body still ins't used to the time difference. Many pictures, videos, and blogs will be added in the near future! I'm looking forward to the rest of the trip!!

Today we went to Ueno park. There was a museum and a zoo there! The museum was home to thousands of cultural and historical artifacts from Japan, dating back to the B.C time period. It was so many beautiful pieces there, and it was filled with so much interesting history behind them. At the zoo we saw so many different types of animals. We were also able to talk to some of the school children, as they interviewed us and asked us questions. After that we went to the black market sort of section in Ueno. Here they were selling freshly caught fish, clothing, shoes, purses, and much more.

Today we move from Tokyo to go to Nikko. The scenery here is so beautiful. The mountains and the quietness of the town is so peaceful. We went to Nikko's world heritage sites and visited the temples that were built on the woods. It was breathtaking and surreal, to think that something this beautiful and complex was built so long ago and in the middle of the woods. We then came back to eat and went back out on a walk to a very religious and sacred bridge. It was a long day, but I will remember all that we did.

Today we are going to a samurai village and I am super excited. We will also be visiting a famous onset. I'll update you all later about the full experience!

June 22

Yesterday we visited Edo Mura, a recreation of a samurai town during the Edo period. The tilting house and the ninja show were the two things that I enjoyed the most. The food was great! After that we visited Tobu world square, here they had many replicas of famous world sites. We then went to soak in an onsen outside. It felt great to feel the coolness of the breeze in contrast with the warmth of the bath.
